Wallpaper Hanging

Expert wallpaper hanging for beautiful, pattern-perfect results

About This Service

Wallpaper hanging is a true craft skill that requires patience, attention to detail and experience. Badly hung wallpaper — with mismatched patterns, trapped bubbles or visible seams — is immediately obvious. Our professional wallpaper hangers have years of experience with all types of wallpaper, from simple paste-the-wall designs to complex large-pattern papers, murals and delicate designer papers.

What Wallpaper Hanging Involves

  • Careful preparation of walls — filling, sanding and applying lining paper if required
  • Accurate measurement and cutting to minimise waste and ensure pattern matching
  • Hanging of all types of wallpaper — vinyl, non-woven, traditional paste-the-wall
  • Complex feature wall and entire room papering
  • Hanging of delicate hand-printed and designer papers
  • Mural and panoramic wallpaper installation

Why Use a Professional?

Wallpaper hanging looks deceptively simple but is extremely difficult to do well without training and experience. Pattern matching, working around obstacles like sockets and radiators, and achieving perfectly aligned seams all require skill. Amateur hanging rarely achieves the result that professional hanging delivers.

Our Process

1

Wall Preparation

We prepare walls thoroughly — this is critical for good adhesion and a smooth final appearance.

2

Sizing

We apply size or a diluted adhesive coat to the walls to slow absorption and improve adhesion.

3

Cutting and Pasting

We carefully measure, cut and paste each length — or prepare the walls for paste-the-wall papers.

4

Hanging

We hang each length carefully, matching patterns and smoothing out all bubbles for a seamless result.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right wallpaper?

Consider the scale of the pattern relative to the room size, the existing colour scheme and lighting. We are happy to advise on paper selection as part of our service.

Do I need lining paper?

Lining paper is recommended for older walls with imperfections, for walls changing from a darker to a lighter colour, or when hanging delicate or expensive papers.

Can you hang large-pattern and mural wallpapers?

Yes — we are experienced in hanging all types of feature wallpaper including large geometric patterns, murals and bespoke printed papers.

How much wallpaper wastage should I allow for?

For papers with no pattern repeat, allow about 10%. For papers with a pattern repeat, allow the length of one repeat per drop to ensure correct matching.
